"THE FOUR ELEMENTS"
by Juliet Parks

me in yellowstone_edited.jpg

The Four Elements of Earth, Water, Air, and Fire are symbols used throughout human history as not only physical elements but also as the spirituality of how we solely exist within the universe.

These elements are within us and around us and shall be acknowledged as necessities to understanding our behavior and how we connect to the world ad others. They can bring us peace, lightness, cleansing of the mind and spirit, calmness, and warmth. They give us life and make us feel alive and enlightened.

The unique compositions of texture and color in each piece arise solely from my intellect, embodied by the process of Abstract Expressionism, which allows me to liberate my mind amidst constant change. As I engage with my brushes, fingers, paint, and tools, I create impermanent and unexpected compositions that transpire when I’m not fully observing. Each painting begins with the formation of new superpositions as I navigate across different areas of the canvas and multiple canvases. The paint, a mixture of water and acrylic, flows naturally, guided by gravity, resulting in variations that range from layered depths to light and free expressions. This artistic process reflects the balance of perceived control over my life and karma, while simultaneously embracing the inevitable uncertainties that lie beyond my grasp.

About

Juliet Parks was born and raised among the large mountains and vast plains of Montana. She has been painting since she was a child and exhibiting her artwork for 26 years in various venues and publications including Vanity Fair and The World of Interiors. She discovered Abstract Expressionism as a young adult and has been developing this style for many years. Her love of Nature and Science (i.e., the night sky, the ocean, forest, and celestial bodies) have inspired the formation of her own natural free flowing process. The theme of the four spiritual elements combined with her painting methods are used as a means of contentment to adversities and triumphs in her life.

“Nothing is permanent except for my love of Art. When we listen, see, smell, and touch the Earth, it brings us closer to our own existence as nothing short of a miracle. These “Mindscapes” and being in the moment with my creations, are a way to imagine a world where I am free in my mind and body.” – Juliet Parks
